Chapter 9 Chemical reactions
You may turn in these problems as many times as it takes to get all of your points.
This is a very important concept and I want you to be comfortable with it.
Below are problems 4, 5, and 6 from page 287
You will need to balance the equations. Remember to start by making sure the compounds are balanced with charges. Then balancing the equation.

The Hand out for types of chemical reaction labs is below. Please use the information when you are writing up the lab. This will be due next Thursday March 12th. The equations will go in your Results section.

Reaction type Lab instructionsThis lab I want you to focus most on the method and the results. The conclusion needs to still be there, but it will not be as intense as the previous labs.
When you write the method you need to write it the way you did it/ not just the way the instructions said. Also you are writing it so that any one could pick up your lab report and be able to get the same results as you. Keep that in mind, you need to be detailed and clear. When writing your results for this lab I want the table to be a hybrid of the two tables you had in the lab report. The must have information is the balanced reaction and the type of reaction as that is the focus of the lab, but I would also like a column on the table that explains why you believe the products of the reaction are what you said. Work first in small groups. Then work the problems on the board as a class.
Classify the following equations as Synthesis, Combustion, Decomposition, Single replacement, or Double replacement.
NaOH (aq) + CaBr2 (aq) => Ca(OH)2 (s) + NaBr (aq)
H2 (g) + Cl2 (g) => HCl (l)
C2H2 (g) + O2 (g) => CO2 (g) + H2O (l)
The way to balance them is posted below.
